Configure Office Outlook 2003 Or 2007 For Gmail Account

Before you start configuring the office outlook application, make sure you have enabled the POP service for the Gmail account. Below are the steps of how to configure the Office Outlook 03/07 for Gmail Account.

Login to Gmail account – Settings – Forwarding and POP/IMAP menu tab.

After confirmed the service has been enabled, then follow the steps below to configure your office outlook application.

Office Outlook 2003
1. Open Office outlook 2003, then select the “Tools – E-Mail Accounts”.

2. On the popup window select “Add New Email Account” option and then click on the Next button. On the next page you are required to select POP3 service option.

3. On the next page, input the following information to the respective fields.

Email Address : User’s email address
Login Name: User’s login name
Password: User’s password
POP : pop.gmail.com
SMTP : smtp.gmail.com

* Leave the SPA option unchecked

4. Click on the “More Settings” button and input this information to the respective fields. Check the box “This server requires encrypted connection (SSL)” for both incoming and outgoing server.

Incoming Server Port : 995
Outgoing Server Port : 445

5. Click on the OK button to close the page, and then click on the “Test Account Settings” to confirm the configuration.

6. Then click on the next button to complete the setup.

Office Outlook 2007
1. Open Office outlook 2007, then select the “Tools – E-Mail Accounts”.

2. On the Email Tab click on the “New” Icon.

3. Select the first option which has included the POP3 service and then click Next.

4. Now you can choose either let the outlook auto configure the setting for you or you do it manually.

Auto Configure The Setting
a. Input this information to the respective fields and click next to test the setting and complete the configuration.

Email Address : User’s email address
Password :User’s password

Manually Configure The Setting
a. Check the “Manually configure the server setting” checkbox.

b. Outlook will prompt you to select the service again, so select the first option where there is a POP3 service and then click next.

c. Input the following information to the respective fields.

Email Address : User’s email address
Account Type : POP3
Incoming Mail Server : pop.gmail.com
Outgoing Mail Server : smtp.gmail.com
Login Name : User’s login name
Password : User’s password

*Leave the SPA option unchecked

d. Click on the “More Settings” button to configure the advanced setting.

e. Select “Outgoing Server” tab and check the box for “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”.

f. Select “Advanced” tab and input this information to the respective fields. Check the box “This server requires encrypted connection (SSL)” for incoming server.

Incoming Server Port : 995
Outgoing Server Port : 587 ( Select TLS for encrypted connection)

g. Click on the OK button to close the page, and then click on the “Test Account Settings” to confirm the configuration.

h. Then click on the next button to complete the setup.

Downloading Yahoo Email To Office Outlook 2003 or 2007

If you are facing a difficulty of downloading your Yahoo email to office outlook application then this alternative solution may probably resolve your problem.

You can use the services provided by Google Gmail to import mails from Yahoo and then download to office outlook application. You can choose whether importing contacts, mails or both to Gmail account for your own preferences. After your yahoo mails have been completely forwarded to Gmail account then you can configure the outlook application to download the mails. Below are the steps to setup the connection between Gmail and Yahoo account.

1. You must be an existing Gmail account holder, otherwise please register an account first before proceeding to next steps.

2. After login successfully to the Gmail account, click “Settings” on the top menu follow by “Accounts and Import” Menu tab.

3. Click on the “Import From Another Address” button to start the configuration.

4. After the popup window is shown, you are required to provide Yahoo email address where this address will be used to forward the mails to Gmail account.

6. Then you will continue to next page to select whether to import contacts, email or both. You can change the label to other name as you like to differentiate the imported mails.

7. After click on the “Start Import” button, the Gmail server will start importing your Yahoo mails, if the data volume is huge then you can go offline first and revisit the page after few hours or next days. The duration of synchronization is much depending on the data volume.

8. Once the synchronization done, then you can configure your office outlook application to download the mails. You may refer to the configuration setup for outlook application that I will post next to this.

Sorry dude, if you’re not comfortable with all these affecting news / photos that I’ve posted here. But, I blog it to remind myself (and you too) who and why should I care!

These are the photos that forwarded to me by one of my friend, titled as “Cyclone Nargis – Myanmar”. I doubt how many people out of 100 are dare or willing to watch all these affecting photos that record the fatal natural disaster happened in Myanmar on 3rd of May 2008.

According to news, Cyclone Nargis had killed more than 77K lives!

Due to the damn busy works and a week vacation (to compensate the hectic life) on a public area that is out of Net access points…SmallCheese.net almost stagnant!

Again, this is another Gmail junk forwarded to me. According to the footnote, if you happen to see the dancing silhouette turns in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions, your IQ score (Intelligence Quotient) might be above 160!

If you see this lady turning in clockwise then your right brain is much active than the left brain, and vice versa. Some people do see her turning in both directions, but most people see it only one way. If you see both ways, your IQ score is above 160 (which suggest that you’re almost a genius!)

Do I see the lady turning in both ways? Yes, I do (but I’m certainly not a genius. The author of the GIF, however, is a genius).

Hint to you, the GIF is just a purposely crafted graphic to create an illusion, i.e. it’s an Optical Illusion (a.k.a Visual Illusion).

If you stare at the legs of dancing lady for a couple of (ten) seconds, ‘she’ is just in time to turn in an opposite direction!
