How to enable Facebook Account Security feature for receiving notification of suspicious login activity

1) Login to Facebook

2) Click the Account link on top-right corner and select Account Settings from the option menu

3) Click on the “Account Security” link to expand it – set the option to YES and hit the Submit button:

After turn on the Facebook Account Security option

1) When you or someone login to your Facebook account on a computer that is either never been used before for this purpose or its web browser cache has been cleared, then a new page is displayed asking user to register that computer in question before loading the News Feed or anything of your account.

If Account Security is turned on, Facebook requires user to register the computer used to login Facebook account.

2) Next, Facebook endeavours to notify / alert account owner about the incident via registered email address.

The “register computer” page forces the “bad guy” to choose either leave without access to personal information in Facebook or get Facebook to notify you about this incident via registered email (don’t ever use the same password for online accounts).

Unlike Google Translate, there is no such Google Cache URL, at least for now. Google Cache is one of the many Google Web Search functions or features that have no dedicated URL to refer.

To use Google Cache:

1) Just go to Google Web Search text box and add the keyword cache: in front of the URL that you would like to see:

2) There is this “cached” link in each of the Google Web Search results, except for those web pages that do not allow Google Web Search to cache or snapshot on them. If there is this “Cached” link, just click that will do:

With reference to Google Webmaster Tools Help on Remove a page or site from Google’s search results, a web page will not be available in Google Cache database if it is not visible to search engine crawler (a.k.a. web spider).

3) In Google Chrome web browser, just use its Address bar as Google Web Search text box:

Now, how many people know which of these two services is best to view hidden contents behind the firewall / proxy server? In other words, when to use Google Cache or Google Translate?

This trick is only applicable if the firewall or proxy server doesn’t filter Google domain or block contents by scanning keywords in URL.

Google Translate

If you want to view the most latest update in a web page that filtered or blocked by firewall / proxy server, use Google Translate service (go to the “Translate a web page” section).

Can Google Translate works if the web page is in English? Yes, it works, at least for now.

Regardless what language is specified in the “From” option drop box, as long as the “To” option is set to English, the English web page is presented as it, just like this:

Google Cache

If you want to take a QUICK peek of the web page content that blocked by firewall / proxy server AND not bother about LATEST content update (e.g. user-generated comments) as well as multimedia files like image, flash object, etc, THEN use Google Cache with “Text-only version”:

Bear in mind that Facebook changes its user interface from time to time:

1) While in News Feed page, click your profile picture or “View my profile” link on the top-left corner. Alternatively, click the “Profile” link on the top-right corner.

2) On the left pane of Profile page, there you will see the Friends box – click the “View all” link.

3) Click the Pages link

on left pane to list all Facebook fan pages you have.

4) Click the “x” icon and then “Remove” button to confirm your wish to Become NOT a fan of a page :-)

Each time when you visit the page that not the default English then the browser will prompt an alert on top of the page to let you determine whether is required the browser to translate the page. Some time like me need to know some technical information however only can get it in Chinese, this really not convenient for those not understand Chinese character. Therefore integrated with this feature I guess it may save the user from checking dictionary in order to get know the meaning.

As I mentioned this feature is defaulted, but you can disable it if you find that it is not useful.

Options – Under The Hood then scroll down to look for the header [Translate], unchecked it to disable the feature.

I believe many Facebook users have aware there is a group called “No, I will Not Pay £3.99 A Month To Use Face Book From July” to promote more user to join Facebook so that the management might change decision if get over 1,000,000 people. And some of my friends have joined to this group to give support and try to increase the members by sending invitation link.

I don’t believe this famous social network company will implement this kind of unprofitable decision because Facebook success is ads supported and imagine if Facebook really charge for their service causing all existing user cancel the account who will be the loser?

For those who think Facebook will start charging their service, first to clarify the accuracy of news before take action.

Before I start explaining, I would like to give some general information regarding the computer networking world. The term Bit and Byte are the common term that use in computer networking and both refer to digital data transmitted over a network connection.

Now let’s see the Unit of Measurement

1 Byte = 8 bit
1KB = 1024Byte

And let’s begin the conversion for the download speed

Download Speed (Package) = 512Kbps
Download Speed (Download Engine) = ?

Calculation
1. (512*1000)/8 = 64000 Byte
2. 64000/1024 = 62.5KB

Therefore why you always see the figure 62.5 appears and not the speed as highlighted by the broadband provider 512.
