Where Is The Door To Hell?

There is a crater on the Earth which has been burning nonstop since 1971. Yes, it’s still on fire at this time of writing!

Should you want to see it in person, and if you or the general public are allowed to go near it at wish, then mark this GPS location in your map / navigator device – 40.25269, 58.439335.
NOTE: Knowing that it’s has been on fire for so many years, the ground around it might be unstable for holding weight or vibration result from moving objects on its surface (my guest, and worry).

Otherwise, just search for “Door to Hell” in YouTube / Google Images for more visual information:

This flaming crater is actually a natural gas field in Derweze, in the middle of the Karakum Desert.

The Soviets thought the collapse-ground-turn-crater that releasing methane gas can burn off within days, so they decided to lit it up instead of letting the uncontrolled gas from posing potential danger to nearby villages. However, the gas storage beneath the crater is so darn huge, that once lit it on then it’s going to burn for decades (or centuries).
