How To Use Command To Stop Microsoft SQL Server Service

Is there a way to use command to stop the Microsoft SQL Server service?

Normally we will go to My Computer/Manage/Services and Applications/Services and open the popup window then select the service to start or stop, but I know there is a simple way to do it instead of click here and there. I find this is more efficient and convenient by just double click the script only.

1. Open Notepad.

2. Type
net start mssqlserver

3. Then save as Start.cmd and close.

4. Perform step 1 to 3 to create another script to stop the service
net stop mssqlserver

For SQLExpress :

Start – net start mssql$sqlexpress
Stop – net stop mssql$sqlexpress
