Adding New Virtual Hard Disk To Virtual Machine
I’m using Vmware for some application testing and I have been alerted that there is not enough disk space for the virtual machine I am running; therefore I require to allocate more disk space to the virtual machine by adding new virtual hard disk.
However, after I created new virtual disk and attached to the virtual machine, I can see it appear in BIOS but after I successfully logon to Windows it doesn’t appear in “My Computer”. What’s wrong? Here I will show you how I solve this and make it appear in “My Computer”.
1. Create new virtual disk
01 - Create New Virtual Disk Page
02 - Selecting Hard Disk Drive To Add
03 - What To Do With The Disk Drive
04 - Select Hard Disk Type
05 - Allocate Disk Space
06 - Summary Page Of Virtual Machine Setting
2. Ensure the new virtual disk has been attached and detected
07 - Hard Drive Detected In BIOS
3. Initialize Disk Drive
08 - Access Computer Management To Setup The Disk
09 - Initialize Disk To The System
4. Disk partition
10 - Partition The New Virtual Disk
11 - Select The New Virtual Disk As Extended Disk
12 - Allocate Disk Space For The Partition
5. Assign disk drive letter and format
13 - Configure Logical Drive
14 - Select The Type Of Partition
15 - Select Partition Size To Use
16 - Assign Drive Letter To The Disk
17 - Select Storage File Format and Perform Formatting
After completed the steps, I can find the new added virtual disk appear in “My Computer”.
